Pennsylvania’s Heartland is home to several of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the nation.  We offer everything from Penn State – one of the nation’s largest campuses to Susquehanna University – with a hometown feel and intimate setting.

Of course you can’t have a college town without the nightlife and entertainment to support it.  This area is filled with exciting entertainment, trendy restaurants, great shopping, and all the recreation you can handle.

Colleges and Universities


Penn State University  www.psu.edu

With an enrollment of over 41,000 students in 2003, Penn State is by far the largest university in our area.  Penn State is famous for it’s Nittany Lions athletic teams as well as its first class education in many fields of study.  With campuses across Pennsylvania, Penn State graduates earned 17,000 degrees in the 2002-2003 school year.

Bloomsburg University  www.bloomu.edu
Bloomsburg University has over 8000 students enrolled in 120 programs of study.  These include business, science, technology, humanities, healthcare, and education.  Bloomsburg University is located on a safe, well-lit campus of 282 acres in the welcoming community of Bloomsburg.

Lock Haven University  www.lhup.edu
With 4,200 enrolled at the Main Campus in Lock Haven and 500 more at the Clearfield Campus, Lock Haven University provides programs in elementary education, business administration, and healthcare as well as many others.  Lock Haven also has an outstanding international mission, offering exchange programs on six continents.

Pennsylvania College of Technology  www.pct.edu
Penn College offers 108 bachelor and associate degrees in computer information technology, business management, electronics, and computer science as well as many others. At Penn College you’ll work to apply technology through hands-on experience and learn to communicate and use math, science and business skills to succeed in your chosen field.

Bucknell University  www.buckell.edu
Bucknell is a liberal arts college where you can choose from 52 majors and 72 minors including professional programs for accounting, management, education, and engineering as well as pre-professional programs for law and medicine.  Bucknell is located in the historic town of Lewisburg overlooking the scenic Susquehanna river.  With a campus of about 400 acres and 80 buildings, Bucknell provides a safe and beautiful environment to learn.

Susquehanna University   www.susqu.edu
Susquehanna University is a national liberal arts college located in the quaint town of Selinsgrove.  Students may choose from more than 50 majors, 48 minors and about 850 courses.  A Susquehanna education is solidly grounded in the liberal arts to build the broad base of knowledge needed to be an educated citizen of the world.  At the same time, it offers the specialized, in-depth preparation students need to succeed in graduate or professional school or in a job after graduation.

1500 students study at Lycoming College in 34 majors.  Of the 3500 colleges and universities in America, Barron’s lists Lycoming as one of 300 colleges offering above average education at below average cost.  The Carnegie Foundation lists Lycoming as 1 of 213 authentic liberal arts schools.

Luzerne County Community College, Northumberland Regional Center  www.luzerne.edu
The Northumberland Regional Center offers degrees, with the largest majors being Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Human Services and Nursing.

 

Technical and Trade Schools

McCann School of Business and Technology   www.mccannschool.com
McCann has an enrollment of about 450 students earning degrees in specialized business degree programs in such majors as accounting, marketing and computer science.

South Hills School of Business and Technology, Lewistown Campus   www.southhills.edu
With 70 students, the South Hills School offers three one-year and five two-year degree programs in such majors as business administration, computer specialist, and computer information systems.

Central Susquehanna LPN Career Center   www.csiu.org/lpn
The LPN Center is celebrating over 30 years of service to the Susquehanna Valley.  Since 1967, the program's experienced nursing instructors have guided many men and women to careers in health care as Licensed Practical Nurses. Located in Sunbury, the LPN Center is operated by the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit, a regional education agency that conducts many programs and services for schools and students in our region.  All classes are held at the LPN Center, and clinical experiences are offered in a variety of skilled and acute care settings across the region.

With a location in Sunbury, Triangle Tech offers degrees in Computer-aided Drafting and Design, Construction, HVAC, Welding, and related technologies. And, if you earn an associates degree at Triangle Tech, you are guaranteed admission to Slippery Rock University.

SUN Tech provides area students with skills needed to compete in today’s job market and receive consideration for advanced college placement.  Education is also offered to adults, serving over 1500 people annually.
